Ban Chiang is best known for the beautiful pottery made by ancient villagers, but there are many types of artifacts that came from the site—literally tons of material. Artifacts included pottery, metal, stone, soil, charcoal, animal bone, and human skeletons. Some, such as the crucibles, have been thoroughly analyzed. Others, like the rollers, contain mysteries still unsolved. The best preserved artifacts come from graves, but most of the pieces were found outside of burials and were lost or discarded in the course of daily life.
