Joyce White Is Given Friend of Thai Science Award

Every year, the Office of Science and Technology of the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. selects two recipients for their Friend of Thai Science award. Recipients are selected based on their contributions in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields that “benefit Thailand and humanity for the morale and encouragement of such people.”

For 2020, the Office gave this award to Joyce White for her accomplishments in Thai archaeology and scholarship. These include the publication of the Ban Chiang Metals Monograph, fostering Thai-Lao collaboration in local archaeological investigations through the Middle Mekong Archaeological Project (MMAP) that she initiated, and the development of digital resources for Southeast Asian Archaeology. More information about the award and about Joyce’s career in Southeast Asian archaeology can be found here. I
